Reducing fire risk and improving recycling rates on a London estate!

With the focus on improving resident safety, the London Borough of Hounslow closed the refuse chutes in four high-rise blocks and replaced them with external waste and recycling hubs from metroSTOR. By moving the waste outside, this eliminated the associated fire risk and helped discourage fly-tipping and side waste.

Since installing the waste and recycling hubs, London Borough of Hounslow have reported a huge increase in recycling with virtually no issues with refuse bags being left on landings, despite these being 22-storey blocks. This is a great credit to the work of the dedicated caretaking and comms teams with fantastic results so far from our partnership with Coalo. 

The local community are now reaping the benefits of a significantly cleaner and safer neighbourhood that has less impact on the environment.
