Delafield House: A Smarter Approach to Estate Waste Management

A new waste infrastructure upgrade at Delafield House, Tower Hamlets is helping restore control over long-standing bin management issues. Open, publicly accessible bin areas have been replaced with secure metroSTOR bin storage enclosures, reducing misuse by non-residents, tackling rodent risk and improving the overall appearance of the site. Loose bins have been consolidated into lockable steel housing, while fire safety has been strengthened by formalising storage and removing unprotected bins from close proximity to the building.

The redesigned system introduces controlled access points for residents alongside a caretaker-managed setup, ensuring bins can be maintained efficiently without exposing them to public view. The result is a cleaner, safer and more secure environment, with improved operational oversight and a clearer understanding of true waste demand – creating a strong model for other estates facing similar challenges.
