metroSTOR Webinar: E-mobility and Fire Safety – Are We Facing a Growing Risk?
E-mobility is becoming a pressing concern for landlords, with fire risks gaining wider recognition. The statistics are stark: since 2020, there have been at least 15 fatalities and 200 injuries related to e-mobility device fires. Yet, we still lack critical insight into how many devices are being stored and charged in our buildings—or their condition. Some leading voices are warning that this blind spot could lead to a disaster akin to Grenfell.
One landlord taking proactive steps is Gentoo. Partnering with their local Fire & Rescue Service and an e-mobility specialist, Gentoo has launched an impressive initiative to mitigate risks. Their approach includes identifying and visiting users in high-risk buildings, offering free device checks, and providing practical advice.
We’re thrilled to welcome Gemma Darville, Head of Safety, Risk and Assurance and Stacey Thwaites, Building Safety Advisor, to our next webinar on 28th January. They’ll be sharing valuable insights from Gentoo’s initiative and discussing how landlords can better tackle this growing challenge. To offer a wider industry perspective on the positive impact of Gentoo’s initiative, we are thrilled to welcome Jan Taranczuk, Vice-chair of the National Social Housing Fire Strategy Group (London and Southeast), and Kabbe Njie, Principal Engineer Fire and Life Safety Systems, to join our panel of guest speakers.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn and engage on an issue of critical importance!
