metroSTOR PBH Bin Room Buildings and PCM Cycle Storage Units were specified for the new build section of Guinness Homes’ redevelopment of the former Wella head office site in Basingstoke, reducing costs for the contractor and minimising ongoing costs for the client.

Park View is a high density residential development with 70no 1-3 bedroom units, requiring 107 secure long stay cycle parking spaces. Only a few of these spaces could be fitted in the internal cycle store, so PWP Architects chose to incorporate 5no PCM 18.48 units, each accommodating 12 bikes on Sheffield cycle stands. Tuffplas Grey cladding to the end panels gives a note of colour, while ZedPanel cladding to the front and rear elevations maintains sightlines through the store for security purposes.

Originally brick-built refuse stores were proposed, but the metroSTOR PBH units were proposed by the contractor, Amiri Construction, as these offered both cost and programme savings in comparison with site constructed options. The three bin stores, finished in Tuffplas Grey plank cladding, provide storage for 24no 1100l bins and 12no 240l bins. Doors at each end of the stores enable easy access for both residents and refuse collectors.
