Shepherds Lodge, Andover
Shepherds Lodge is a retirement living scheme in Andover consisting of one bedroom flats and two bedroom bungalows where Stonewater’s latest project was to address the need for safe and secure mobility scooter storage and bin stores to reduce the fire risk the residents were faced with.
Glen Loftus, Strategic Partnership Manager at Stonewater comments:
“Streetspace have been supplying all Stonewater mobility scooter stores since 2015. Over this time we have worked with Streetspace to modify and improve the design to comply with the every changing regulations”
Previously the mobility scooters were stored in communal areas within the building which posed a significant fire risk and great inconvenience to the residents. To overcome this a metroSTOR PSMN mobility scooter charging unit was installed which has the ability to store up to 6 class 1 or 2 mobility scooters. Built with ease of use in mind, the units are designed with space around the scooters for the connection of chargers and easy access, alongside internal motion sensor lighting.
Due to site layout and the close proximity to the residential buildings, units were finished with ForestPanel TGV FR cladding which features a non-combustible fire protection board liner meaning the units provide high levels of fire protection without compromising on aesthetics.
In addition to the mobility scooter units, Streetspace also installed 3 PBM bin storage units, finished with matching cladding, to house the general waste and recycling bins in a convenient location for the residents. The units were fitted with different apertures and signage to help control waste loading and avoid contamination between general waste and recycling.
The work completed by Streetspace at Shepherds Lodge resulted in Stonewater being able to satisfy the requirements of their fire risk assessments, as well as improve amenities for their residents.
